Ambassador Alexander G. Ntrakwa

In November 2020, His Excellency Alexander Grant Ntrakwa was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Ado as Ghana’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Zimbabwe with concurrent accreditation to Mozambique & the Comoros.  He presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa on 18th February, 2021.

Ambassador Alexander G. Ntrakwa is a career diplomat with extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy both home and abroad.  Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Ntrakwa was the Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) of the Ghana Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva from 2017 -2020.  He also had the opportunity to serve as Minister-Counsellor/ Head of Chancery in Ghana’s Permanent Office to the United Nations in New York from 2008 – 2012 and then as Counsellor/ Trade & Investment Promotions Desk in the Embassy of Ghana in Berlin, Germany from 2000 -2004.

During his service of duty abroad to the Government of Ghana, Ambassador Ntrakwa held prominent positions such as the Chairperson of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Headquarters Building Advisory Committee and Ghana’s Technical Expert on the United Nations Administrative & Budgetary Committee (5th Committee). He also attended Conferences & Seminars on Migration and Development Issues, Human Rights, Peace & Security, Negotiation & Mediation Skills.

As a career diplomat whose experience spans for almost three decades, his diligence and dedication to duty as a Foreign Service Officer afforded him the opportunity to serve in various capacities in the Ghana Foreign Ministry notably as the Director of Passports, the Passports Office from 2014-2017, Acting Director of the Estates, Americas and the  Finance Bureaux in  1999, 2013 and 2014 respectively. He also served as Personal Assistant to the Hon. Deputy Foreign Minister in 2006 and then to the Hon. Foreign Minister in 2008. He also served as an Assistant Director II in the Administration & Human Resource and the Africa & Regional Integration Bureaux, and then at the Office of the President.

Ambassador Ntrakwa has strong background in international relations and  holds an Executive Master of Advanced Studies in International Humanitarian Law in Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy (2020)  and was a Chevening Scholar at the Oxford University, UK in 2006.  Again, he holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs from the Legon Centre for International Affairs & Diplomacy (LECIAD) obtained in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana in 1991.

Ambassador Ntrakwa is happily married and enjoys  reading, sightseeing and music as pastime.
